Hi, I’m Captain Scott Fawcett. Owner and operator of the Stuart Fl. fishing charter boat Off the Chain. I’ve lived on and fished off the Treasure Coast for the last 40 years and no matter how often I go, I just can’t get enough. Fishing has always been a passion of mine, so when I moved here as a child from Connecticut in the early 80’s, it didn’t take me long to realize that Stuart was the perfect place for me. The little town on the east coast of Florida offers scenic views, with great people, but the variety of game fish that Stuart offers and how easily accessible the waters are, are main reasons we choose this area.
At the age of 14 I started mating for my dad on our families boat. Charter fishing locally out of Sailfish Marina of Stuart for dolphin, sailfish, wahoo, and kings during the school months and spending the summers in the Bahamas targeting everything from lobster, and bottom fish to bonefish and blue marlin. As soon as I could drive I started working for other local captains. Captain Ray Parker aboard the Hobo and Captain V.J. Bell aboard the Boneshaker (at the time, both boats were Whiticar’s and considered the best fishing charter boats out of Stuart Fl.).
While attending U.C.F business classes Tuesday- Thursday, I drove back to Stuart every weekend and continued mating aboard the Boneshaker. In 1998 we started fishing sailfish tournaments on a more serious level and since then I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with and be a part of some of the best fishing teams to compete. With the training from some of the best captains like VJ Bell, Jimmy Lund, Robbie Valco, and John Bayliss, and after honing my skills in great charter destinations like Fl. the Bahamas, the Outer Banks, Ocean City, Mexico, St. Thomas and Costa Rica, I decided it was time to take the plunge. In 2001 I became a captain, and took the job on a 37 foot Topaz “teaser” for the season. During the Marina Shootout that year I claimed my first tournament victory as captain. After that I signed back onto the Boneshaker program as captain and continued fishing charters and tournaments from Mexico to the Bahamas to the Outerbanks for the next ten years. 
After my beautiful wife, Heather and I had our son Thatcher, it was time to slow down on the traveling aspect of things. After a wonderful decade filled with great times, memories, and an unstoppable tournament run, I stepped away from the Boneshaker to focus on what matters most, spending time with the family. We decided to buy a center console and put it into charter ourselves. Off the Chain offers the same style of charter fishing I’ve always provided, with equal success, at a much more affordable rate.
